Summer means the finest weather in Paris - and at Hotel Opera Lafayette our June newsletter includes unique ways you can celebrate, with beaches and dancing on the banks of the Seine, all within easy reach of our front door.

A resort on the banks of the Seine

Paris Plages, from 19 July to 17 August, is now well-established as a favourite feature of the summer season in Paris. Hundreds of tons of sand transform the banks of the Seine into a traffic-free beach. Here you will find deck chairs to lounge on, and gaze out at the mighty river, as you enjoy a book from a free library. Entertainment is available up and down the river - and of course there are ice creams to enjoy as you stroll along this city beach resort in the sunshine. At the beautiful Parc de la Villette, they've joined in with their very own beach festival. It's called LaPlage and it's run by the Glazart arts company. There's a programme lined up of some 60 concerts, between 19 June and 20 September, featuring everything from electro-pop to funk. If you enjoying dancing in the open air, this is for you, and we heartily recommend it.

For traditionalists, we recommend another unique dancing opportunity: dancing right next to the Seine at Quai Saint-Bernard, every evening from 1 July to 31 August.

As the sun sets in the Tino Rossi gardens, near the Arab World Institute, the dancers gather, preparing for a great evening ahead. This is a spontaneous event, so you can just turn up and take to the outdoor dancefloor. The music ranges from salsa and tango to Breton sounds and even rock music, and it will make for an unforgettable evening.

For anyone with an interest in film, we recommend Paris Cinema, with hundreds of screenings between 5 to 12 July.
